The short version: Lumina collects a deliberately limited set of information, and it's upfront about the uses people don't always expect — including advertising and measurement. Here's what that means in practice; the full Privacy Policy is the authoritative document.
What Lumina collects
Account and contact details: your sign-in credentials, name, email, and phone.
Communications: support chats, emails, and (where applicable) recorded calls. As a regulated broker, Lumina is required to record and retain business communications.
Device and usage data: IP address, device type, which screens you use, plus crash and error logs.
What Lumina deliberately doesn't collect or keep
The sensitive application materials, including your ID documents, Social Security number, and bank account numbers, are collected and processed by Interactive Brokers as part of account opening. Lumina doesn't independently retain them.
No microphone audio, contacts, calendar entries, health data, SMS messages, or call logs from your device.
Location and biometrics
Location exists for one reason: confirming you're in a US jurisdiction where the service is available. Approximate location comes from your IP; precise location is requested with your permission, checked at sign-in and order submission rather than continuously, and isn't retained as a location history. Face ID and fingerprint unlock are processed locally by your device and never transmitted to or stored by Lumina.
Advertising and measurement
Lumina advertises online and measures which campaigns bring people to Lumina. To do that, Lumina and its advertising and measurement partners use identifiers and activity information; the Privacy Policy describes this in full.
You can opt out at any time in Your Privacy Choices. If you opt out, you're excluded from ad targeting; measurement continues in aggregate.
On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt applies to information collected in our app. Choices for our website and your account are set in Your Privacy Choices.
Who information is shared with
Sharing happens where the service requires it and to run Lumina's advertising: Interactive Brokers (which carries your account), the exchange that executes your orders, service providers under confidentiality obligations, advertising and measurement partners (see Advertising and measurement above), and regulators where the law requires it. How this advertising-related sharing is characterized under US privacy laws — including any "sale" or "share" definitions and the opt-out that goes with them — is set out in the Privacy Policy; the opt-out itself is in Your Privacy Choices.
Your choices
Marketing: opt out via the unsubscribe link, in-app preferences, or [email protected]. Account and regulatory communications continue either way.
Advertising: opt out at any time in Your Privacy Choices, linked in the website footer and in the app's settings, or email [email protected]. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. Opting out excludes you from ad targeting; aggregate measurement continues. Cookie settings and the iOS app-tracking prompt are separate controls and don't replace it.
Access and correction: most of your information is viewable and editable in the app; for the rest, contact [email protected].
Deletion: use Delete My Account in the app or email [email protected]. Some records must be retained under CFTC and NFA rules before deletion completes, and information held by Interactive Brokers is governed by its own privacy policy.
How it's protected
Encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access controls, multi-factor authentication, and security monitoring. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact [email protected] immediately and follow the steps in Keeping your account secure.
